LHU Field Hockey kicked off the 2024 season by hosting #10 Syracuse
LOCK HAVEN– The Lock Haven field hockey team (0-1 overall) kicked off its 2024 season by hosting No. 10 Syracuse (1-0 overall) in a non-conference NCAA Division I clash at Charlotte Smith Field today (Friday, Aug. 30). The visitors led 5-0 at halftime on the way to the 9-0 season-opening victory.
Freshman Madison Friend led the way as she stood out her debut and defender Elien Bos played well for The Haven. Bos kept the Bald Eagles within striking distance in the first period with an electric defensive save, her first of the year.
Behind a four-goal second period, Syracuse built a 5-0 lead in the first half to run away with the victory.
Kelsey Felix and Maja Halasz split the game in cage for The Haven, combining for three saves.
NEXT UP
The Bald Eagles remain home and will host Temple University at Charlotte Smith Field on Sunday, Sept. 1 at noon.
Lock Haven opens the season on a four-game homestand.
