MILL HALL- Central Mountain girls varsity tennis coach Tom Zettle is banking on five returning letter winners from a season ago and a strong singles lineup.
District 6 champion Addison Lindsay is amongst the returnees.
“She should make a deep run into the state tournament.” Said Zettle of Lindsay “She finished second in the state last year.”
Ellie Harry, Molly Dubbs, Audra Eaton and Emily Brinker also return for the experienced Lady Wildcats. Coach Zettle also mentioned two-sport star Archie Walker, who will balance soccer and tennis this season.
Central Mountain’s number one doubles is expected to be competitive, with their number two doubles team being young but ready to make improvements throughout the season.
District 6 is loaded again in 2024 with the likes of Altoona, State College and Hollidaysburg awaiting the Lady Wildcats when postseason rolls around come October.
Jersey Shore will once again be Central Mountain’s biggest rival during the regular season.
“Jersey Shore will be our biggest rival.” Said Zettle of the rivalry with the Lady Bulldogs “Girls on both teams really get up for that one.”
Williamsport and Danville will also offer stiff competition in 2024, as will Keystone Central rivals Bucktail. The Lady Wildcats will host the District IV perennial playoff team on October 2 in Mill Hall.
CM tennis will have already started their season on Monday with a home match against Selinsgrove and will have traveled to Jersey Shore on Wednesday. Both matches are set to start at 4pm.
