LHU Lacrosse lands three on Academic All-District Team
LOCK HAVEN – Three members of the Lock Haven lacrosse team have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II Academic All-District Team.
Gabby Drumm (Elbridge, N.Y.), Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) and Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) were all named to the All-District Team.
The award, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The trio helped lead Lock Haven to a remarkable turnaround in 2024. The program won 14 games for the first time since 2016, while reaching the PSAC Postseason Tournament for the first time since 2018 as the number three seed.
Gunnip, a PSAC West First Team Attacker, led the team and finished fifth in the conference with 56 goals and 77 points. Gunnip was one of three Bald Eagles to bring home an Athlete of the Week honor, doing so twice on the offensive end. The sophomore scored in every game, while scoring multiple goals 15 times, including five or more goals four times. Gunnip netted a season-high seven goals in the Bald Eagles’ victory over Gannon.
Shaffer, a PSAC First Team Midfielder, scored 27 goals, dished out six assists, while leading the team with 55 draw controls and finishing second with 33 ground balls. Shaffer scored a season-high four goals twice and hauled in a season-high 10 draw controls in the Bald Eagles’ victory over Gannon.
Katrinak started all 18 games and finished with 33 goals, 32 assists and 65 points. She led the team in assists, while finishing second in points and third in goals. Katrinak (154) finished her career by surpassing the 150-point milestone. Following the season, Katrinak was selected to play in the 2024 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior All-Star Game.
