Chicago Area Man Pleads Guilty To Drug Trafficking on Interstate 80
LOCK HAVEN—District Attorney Dave Strouse announced Tuesday that Mujahid Hammam, 23, of Bridgeview, Illinois, entered a No-Contest plea to Possession With Intent to Deliver, an ungraded felony. Hammam entered the plea before President Judge Craig P. Miller.
Hammam was charged after State Police at Lamar made a traffic stop on his vehicle on February 18, 2024, for traffic code violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Matthew Mills noticed a strong odor of marijuana at the window. After engaging a drug K9, Mills obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, which included 2 additional passengers other than Hammam. Mills then located over 16 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana and 972 other additional items containing marijuana or THC, including THC vape cartridges in bulk packaging and other bulk THC products. Police also discovered drug sale ledgers in the vehicle along with luggage with airline baggage tags bearing Hammam’s name.
Police charged all three occupants of the car, which was traveling from New York City to Chicago, according to the passengers. Sentencing will be held next month.
