Barn Fire Rebuild in East End
LAMAR TOWNSHIP — Less than 24 hours after fire destroyed an East End, Nittany Valley barn Amish neighbors were at work cleaning up the damage.
The fire was reported Friday evening at the Gideon Kauffman farm on Ridge Lane in Lamar Township. A number of area fire companies responded to the alarm. Fire officials said the flames appeared to break out in the rear of the barn and spread quickly. Several horses inside were led to safety.
Saturday saw a large assemblage of Amish workers removing debris and preparing to pour concrete and rebuild the structure. There was no initial word on the fire cause.
