Central Mountain Wildcats Swing to Victory in Quad Meet Showdown
MILL HALL – Coach Jeff Brinker’s Central Mountain Wildcat Tennis team had a packed schedule as they hosted a quad meet on Thursday, concluding with a 2-1 record for the day.
The Wildcats began against Altoona, finishing 2-3. Coach Brinker commented, “The boys fought hard in a closely contested match. It ultimately came down to the number 2 doubles, where despite a valiant effort, they narrowly missed out. Altoona clinched it 3-2.”
In the subsequent match against Mifflin County, CM asserted their dominance with a clean sweep, securing all 5 matches for a commanding 5-0 victory.
The final showdown of the day was a thrilling encounter with Galeton. David led the charge by sweeping his opponent aside with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, securing his third win of the day. The remaining matches were decided by third-set super tiebreakers, with victory going to the first to reach 10 points and win by 2.
Coach Brinker expressed his pride, stating, “The boys fought all day long and I am proud of the effort and mental strength it took to win against Galeton. In the end, 3 of the 4 matches came out on top to bring home the victory.”
