Lady Bucks Dominate Season Opener Against St. John Neumann

FARWELL-Bucktail fans witnessed an explosive start to the 2024 season as the Bucktail Lady Bucks took on visiting St. John Neumann Regional Academy on a sunny Monday afternoon. In a display of  dominance, the Lady Bucks unleashed a torrent of 12 runs in the second inning, culminating in a decisive 17-2 victory within three innings. The team exhibited a collective effort, showcasing their depth up and down the lineup.

Senior ace Mak Wagner set the tone from the mound, delivering a masterful performance with 6 strikeouts and conceding just one hit. Makenna Stone complemented the pitching prowess with a solid display, issuing only two walks and surrendering one hit.

The Bucks wasted no time asserting their presence on the scoreboard, notching three runs in the bottom of the first inning. A wild pitch brought in two runs, while Kendal Wagner’s single added another, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Lady Bucks intensified their lead in the bottom of the second, exploding for 12 runs. Although St. John Neumann managed to respond with two runs in the top of the third, the Lady Bucks swiftly quashed any hopes of a comeback, sealing the game with two more runs in the bottom of the third to secure the resounding 17-2 victory.

Mak Wagner showcased her offensive prowess, tallying three hits including doubles and a single, driving in 3 RBIs. Makenna Stone and Eva Sockman contributed significantly, each collecting two hits with a triple and a single. Additional hits from Lola English, Matti Mason, Kendall Wagner, Angel Kmetz, and Gianna Balchun further fueled the Bucktail victory.

With  the win the Lady Bucks start their Mid Penn Conference campaign on a high note with a 1-0 record. Looking ahead, they face a busy week ahead, with an away game against Moshannon Valley on Wednesday followed by a home clash against Montgomery on Thursday.
