Central Mountain Girls Basketball Battles, Falls to Williamsport

MILL HALL- The Central Mountain Girls basketball team put forth a valiant effort on Friday night, squaring off against the formidable Lady Millionaires from Williamsport. Despite their best efforts, the Lady Wildcats ultimately game up short to the Lady Millionaires, who clinched a 56-37 victory.

From the outset, Williamsport surged ahead, establishing a commanding 15-7 lead after the first quarter. Undeterred, the Lady Wildcats rallied in the second quarter, mustering thirteen points but fell short of matching Williamsport’s intensity, entering halftime with a deficit of 29-20.

The second half saw Williamsport maintain their momentum, outscoring Central Mountain 27-17. Despite the Wildcats’ resilience, they couldn’t bridge the gap.

Leading the charge for Central Mountain was Lena Walker with 13 points. Taylor Doyle and Keely Rohrbach also made notable contributions, tallying 8 and 7 points respectively.

However, it was Nadirah Tutler of Williamsport who dominated the boards, amassing an impressive 30 points.

With this win, Williamsport advances to a commendable 16-6 record for the season. Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats conclude their regular season with a 9-13 record.

Coach Scott Baker and his team are now gearing up for their next challenge: a showdown against the Lady Braves of Shikellamy in the District 6 5A Semi-Final game on Tuesday both times this season the Lady Braves come out on top with the wins by very close margins. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
