Lady Wildcats Secure 40-38 Victory Over Danville
MILL HALL – The Central Mountain girls’ basketball team returned to Heartland Conference action on Wednesday, facing off against a resilient Danville squad. In a hard-fought battle, the Lady Wildcats secured a narrow home court victory, 40-38.
Central Mountain took control early, establishing a 13-6 lead after the first quarter. The halftime scoreboard showed a tight contest with Central Mountain leading 21-19. As the game progressed, the Lady Wildcats maintained a slim lead of 32-31 after three quarters. Despite Danville’s efforts to stage a comeback in the fourth, the Lady Wildcats held their ground, ultimately claiming a 40-38 win.
Leading the charge once again, Taylor Doyle contributed 14 points. Other notable scorers included Lena Walker with 10 points, Keely Rohrbach and Camdyn Weaver with 5 points each. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wildcats, Macy Plowman added 4 points, and Ava Doyle chipped in with 2.
With this victory, Central Mountain improves to a 7-7 overall record and stands at 2-3 in conference play. Danville’s overall record now stands at 6-9, with a 1-3 record in the Heartland Conference.
Looking ahead, the Lady Wildcats will hit the road on Friday, January 26, for a 6:30 p.m. Varsity-only game at Lewisburg.
Danvile took the JV contest in a close contest as well.
