SUNBURY- Central Mountain entered a critical District 4/6 5A subregional clash with Shikellamy on Saturday afternoon with huge playoff implications. The host Braves used a big first half advantage to fend off a late Wildcats’ rally and eventually down Central Mountain 52-46 in PHAC-1 play.

Shik raced out to a 19-11 first quarter advantage and would hold the visitors to just 9 second quarter points to build a 32-20 lead at the break.

The Wildcats owned the Braves in the second half by besting them 26-20, but it wouldn’t be enough as Shikellamy would pick up the 52-46 victory.

Caleb Mahoney would have the hot hand for Central Mountain by netting a game-high 20 points. Hunter Hoy would add 8 points in the loss.

Lenner led Shik with 16 points and Williams added 11. Shikellamy improved to 7-7 and kept their postseason aspirations on track. Central Mountain fell to 9-5 on the season.

The Wildcats will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Milton (3-10).
