Wildcats Fall at Shamokin 60-49

COAL TOWNSHIP-The Central Mountain Boys basketball team (8-2) on the season traveled to Shamokin for an away game Wednesday. Shamokin came into the game (8-4). The Wildcats knew Shamokin would be a battle. It was a tough road game for the Wildcats as they fell to Shamokin 60-49.

Shamokin outpaced the Wildcats 17-14 in the first quarter then lead 30-23 at the half. Central Mountain would rally in the third quarter outscoring Shamokin 17-11. The Indians battled in the final period to take the 60-49 win over Central Mountain.

Hunter Hoy found his shooting range again with a 21-point effort to lead the Wildcats. Other points came from Max Verrelli 8, Blake Walker 7, and Brady Myers with 6. Rounding out the scoring: Dominic Longworth 3, Caleb Mahoney 2 and Xavier Persun was held to only one 2 point basket.

The loss moves the Wildcats to 8-3 on the season and are next in action when they host Chestnut Ridge (10-1) on Friday.
