Night trouble …
Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but we’re hearing that despite the recent extremely cold nights someone tried to break into an Erie Avenue business recently. We’re told that the culprit did not gain entrance but did cause damage to the entrance door of the business.
Not happy with road work …
The whiteout conditions Saturday afternoon and evening frightened more than a few drivers, and kept others, like me, at home. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want this winter gone. People who have to drive back and forth to work especially want to see clear skies and roadways again. Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but we’ve heard there are a lot of people and businesses who have been complaining about Penn DOT and their lack of maintaining the roads up here. The word is the worst problems are Route 144 to Tamarack, Route 144 to Halls Run and Route 120 from Lock Haven to Westport, the main roads in and out of Renovo and surrounding communities.
The word is that residents have been taking pictures and sending them to WNEP news station and filing online complaints with Penn DOT. Some were complaining that the roads are so bad they’ve had to call off work and use vacation time because they were afraid to travel on them. The reports are that once you get to Lock Haven the roads were fine.
On good note, we’ve also heard that the complaints are being heard and steps are being taken to resolve these problems.
BMC Valentine treat …
Bucktail Medical Center residents and visitors enjoyed their annual Valentine’s party and treat Friday evening, February 13 with music and entertainment by Bud and the Dynamics. The Dynamics played favorite tunes for the occasion that a number of the residents used to dance to during the past fifty years.
Mitch on tap …
South Renovo’s Mitch Gavlock performed Friday night, Feb. 13. Mitch played a few acoustic sets for a huge crowd at the Black Forest Inn on the Coudersport Pike.
Benefit Valentine DJ dance Saturday …
Rumor has it that there was a really good turnout for Alaina Tripp’s Benefit DJ Dance Valentine’s evening at the Sons of Italy in Renovo. Alaina held the dance to raise money for Western Clinton County Recreation Authority.
Renovo pride …
Yours truly had the pleasure of seeing Renovo natives Conny Dwyer-Glicken of Florida and Gary Eberhard of Lock Haven perform in Orlando recently. Conny was singing at the Orlando Senior Center and Gary was guest trombonist with the accompanying band.
Class of ’66 …
A number of members of the Renovo High School class of 1966 met at the Sportsman’s Restaurant Sunday for a luncheon and to begin plans for the classes’ 50th anniversary reunion.
Right on …
Rumor has it not a clue if it’s true, that a multiple location local auto sales business is environmentally “right on.” The word is that this K & L Auto Sales used oil for some of its heating needs, thus protecting us all by reusing a natural resource rather than storing or polluting the environment.
Ambulance dues …
A Record reader is wondering when the FAST Ambulance membership drive is held?
Will it ever end? …
I join the legions of the winter weary who are asking if this cold, slush and snow is ever going to end. Have no fear, Farwell Forecaster tells us, Spring is just 30 days away. March 20, the 30th day, is the first day of Spring. Halleluia!
See I told you so …
Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but rumors abound on the south side of the river that they blame those Snow Flake Banners along South Renovo Streets for the winter weather. Seems to me there are a lot of folks bundled up checking skyward and conversing. Lots of steam coming from those conversations. Could it be there’s a movement under way to remove the snow flake banners. All I can say is that South Renovo Council members maybe in for a heated session.
