CM girls fall in close battle at Shik 36-34
By Bees O’Brien
SUNBURY- The Central Mountain girls were back in action on Tuesday night with a road trip to fellow 5A rivals Shikellamy.
The Lady Braves would utilize a strong 16-2 first quarter advantage to hold off a fierce Central Mountain second half. The Lady Wildcats did pull out a strong 11-5 second quarter edge to narrow the Shikellamy halftime lead to 21-13.
Shik would need every bit of their 13-9 third quarter advantage as Central Mountain went on the attack in the fourth quarter.
A final 12-1 effort in the final stanza would almost be enough for the visitors, but Shik’s previous lead would be too much on this night for the ladies from Mill Hall, as they would fall 36-34.
Shik improved to 7-4 on the season, while Central Mountain would fall to 5-4 on the season.
Lily Fatool led the Lady Braves with 20 points, while teammate Kianah Lenner dropped in 13 points.
Freshman Camdyn Weaver continued her strong debut season for the Lady Wildcats by netting 12 points. Lena Walker and Taylor Doyle both added 10 points.
Central Mountain will return to action on Friday when they travel to Danville.
The JV team lost to Shik 47-41. Aubrey Eiler 13 and Alaina Carnahan 11 led the JV team.
