From Staff Reports

LOCK HAVEN– With its winning streak on the ropes after the first half, the Lock Haven women’s basketball team never quit and willed its way to a 50-49 overtime victory against Slippery Rock in a gritty Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover game inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 30).

The Bald Eagles are now 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the PSAC and will head into the New Year riding their longest winning streak in over 30 years.

Lock Haven also concludes 2023 sitting alone on top of the PSAC Eastern Division standings as the only unbeaten team.

Lock Haven, whose lone defeat came in the first game of the season in a neutral site contest, continues to dominate its home schedule and is currently 5-0 in Thomas Fieldhouse.

With the loss, Slippery Rock falls to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC.

Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) continues her run of dominating performances in the paint and finished with a 20-point, 10-rebound, 7-block, two-steal performance to power The Haven.

Robinson’s career-high seven blocks moves her season total to 27, which is 12 more than anyone else in the conference. Through just two seasons, Robinson is now fourth all-time in program history with 80 blocks.

Jenadia Jordan (York, Pa./Linden Hall) also finished in double figures, dropping 10 points to go with nine rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Jordan and Robinson combined to shoot 16-of-18 from the free throw line.

Rhlyn Rouse (York, Pa./York Tech) led the second unit with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Madeline Evans (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) added nine rebounds.

Lock Haven, who scored a season-low 10 points in the first half on just 4-of-27 shooting, completely flipped the script in the second half to force overtime. Slippery Rock led 22-10 heading into the break.

The Haven outscored The Rock, 32-20, in the second half and 8-7 in overtime to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Lock Haven turned its defense into offense and finished with a 13-0 advantage in fast break points after the first half.

Both teams committed 15 turnovers, but Lock Haven led 9-0 in blocks and 51-42 in rebounds.

Lock Haven’s struggles came predominately from behind the arch where they finished 1-of-18. However, The Haven tripled The Rock’s production at the charity stripe, finishing 21-of-26 at the foul line, including a perfect 4-of-4 in overtime.
