Verrelli’s heroics keeps CM undefeated in comeback win over Tyrone 74-68

TYRONE- Central Mountain’s Max Verrelli only scored 3 points through the first three quarters of his team’s road battle at Tyrone on Wednesday night. The junior Wildcat would come unhinged in the game’s final quarter by pouring in 11 points, part of a huge 26-point CM fourth quarter that would help them overcome a 36-18 first half deficit and win 74-68. The comeback win over a quality Golden Eagle squad now has the Wildcats at 5-0 on the season.
Verrelli wasn’t the only hero in the final quarter of play. Brady Myers would pop in 9 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter. Hunter Hoy would also have another big night for the Wildcats by netting 16 points and Xavier Persun continued his strong season by scoring 10 points. Verrelli would finish his big night with 16 points.
The Wildcats would find themselves down 16-13 after one quarter. The Golden Eagles would build a big lead in the second quarter. Tyrone’s 22-13 second quarter advantage would see their lead grow to 38-26 at halftime.
The Wildcats 48-30 second half advantage would be the deciding factor and set the final score.
Tyrone dropped to 4-2 on the season, while 5-0 Central Mountain will next meet Mifflin County on December 27 at a Mifflin County tournament.
