Hundreds Gather in Downtown Lock Haven for Robb Elementary Holiday Concert
By Emily Wright
LOCK HAVEN – Friday evening the annual Robb Elementary School Holiday Concert was held downtown Lock Haven in the East Main Street parking lot at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Kindergarten through fourth grade, roughly 400 students in total, performed holiday songs led by Robb Elementary music teacher, Teresa Poole, with their classmates.
Students in each grade level performed on a stage set up by the Clinton County Kiwanis Club for approximately 20 minutes each, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and concluding just after 7:00 p.m. Spotlights shining on the stage were provided by the Citizens Hose Fire Company, making for the perfect holiday performance. Principal Tyler Barth acted as the MC for the event, dressed in his holiday best complete with holiday lights adorning his Christmas-themed suit.
The holiday concert saw a turnout well into the hundreds, filling the entire parking lot at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with families filtering in and out of the parking lot as students rotated performances by grade level. The crowd stood to watch the students sing from corner to corner of the parking lot, and a V.I.P. seating section was reserved for parents and individuals who chose to participate in the Robb Elementary PTO Donation Drive sponsorship at the beginning of the school year.
To give Downtown Lock Haven businesses a boost, all Robb Elementary students who attended the concert received a “Downtown Lock Haven Card” to use at any of the shops and restaurants following the concert and throughout the weekend. Principal Tyler Barth mentioned in a letter issued to parents earlier this week that DLH businesses would be extending their hours on Friday evening following the concert. In his letter, he explained that each student’s card includes lines numbered one through five to be initiated by an employee at any of the downtown shops and restaurants upon students’ request. Those who bring their cards back on Monday, December 11 with all five lines initialed will be entered into a drawing to win a prize. “We encourage you and your kiddos to visit at least five Downtown Lock Haven businesses (shops, restaurants, etc.) sometime between Friday and Sunday,” he said.
Principal Barth would like to acknowledge and send special thanks to all who lent their assistance and efforts to make the 2023 Robb Elementary annual holiday concert a success. “It’s a group effort,” he said. “I appreciate the community support and everybody from the fire department for the light stands and at the Lock Haven City Police Department for continuing to provide their support to our school and our students,” Barth said.
Barth extends his thanks and appreciation to:
- St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for use of the sanctuary to host all students before their performances
- Lock Haven City Council and Mayor Joel Long
- Clinton County Commissioner Angela Harding
- The Clinton County Kiwanis Club for lending their assistance with setting up the chairs and stage for the concert
- Downtown Lock Haven businesses for extending their hours on Friday evening and participating in the Downtown Lock Haven cards given to Robb Elementary students
- KCSD Superintendent Dr. Jacqueline Martin and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Randy Zangara
- Robb Elementary Music educator, Mrs. Teresa Poole, for working with all students and putting on the performance
- All staff members at Robb Elementary for their effort in helping to coordinate the event
