CM freshman Lindsay falls to defending state champ in PIAA tennis championship final
HERSHEY, PA – Central Mountain freshman Addison Lindsay saw her spectacular season come to end on Saturday in the final match of the PIAA AAA state championship.
Lindsay lost in the state final to Grace Li from Unionville, the defending state champion. Li, a senior, held off Lindsay 7-5 in the first set and took the second set, 6-1.
As Central Mountain athletic director Dave Peters said afterwards, “Not too bad for her first run at states.” Peters and the rest of the Lady Wildcat following at the Hershey Racquet Club heaped nothing but praise on the ninth grade phenom.
Lindsay had advanced to the finals with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Helena Lynn from Bethlehem Liberty on Saturday morning. She took two matches on Friday as part of her path to the championship match.
Lindsay earlier this fall became the first Clinton County tennis player to ever win a girls’ District 6 singles title. With her Saturday showing, she becomes the first Lady Wildcat to advance to the PIAA title match.
