Lock Haven asks city water customers to continue reduced water usage
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven Public Works Director Tony Stopper on Wednesday renewed a request for city water customers to limit their water usage, stating the city system is still in a drought situation.
Stopper noted Clinton County earlier this year was removed from a state drought warning. But Stopper said, “Unfortunately, our water reservoirs are staying low since we are at a rainfall deficiency and are not rising.”
The original request to limit water consumption, issued earlier this year, remains on the city website:
Public Notice – Stage II Drought Contingency Plan
Due to minimal rainfall in 2023, the City of Lock Haven Water Department is asking that all residents and customers do their part in conserving water. Under the Drought Contingency Plan, it is mandatory to reduce water usage for non-essential uses by 20%.
Some examples of conserving water are avoiding letting faucets run, reducing showering times and frequency, using dishwashers or laundry appliances with full loads, avoiding watering landscapes, and avoiding washing vehicles.
More information regarding conserving water can be found on the City’s website at lockhavenpa.gov/dept/public-works/water/savewater/ where you can calculate your water footprint and learn how you can help conserve water.
