Late Surge Lifts Williamsport Past Central Mountain, 6-2

Central Mountain held even through four innings before Williamsport used a late push to pull away for a 6-2 win on Monday night.

After four scoreless frames, Williamsport broke through with three runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to take control. Central Mountain answered with single runs in the fifth and seventh but couldn’t close the gap. Williamsport finished with six runs on 10 hits, while the Wildcats totaled two runs on six hits and committed three errors.

Watt Probst and Adian Jones led the Wildcats at the plate with two hits each, while Darius Shade and Blake Walker also recorded hits.

On the mound, Blake Walker kept Central Mountain in the game early, going six innings with seven strikeouts and three walks while allowing six runs on 10 hits. Darius Shade worked a clean inning in relief, striking out two.

Central Mountain moves to 7-2 on the season and will look to bounce back Friday when it travels to Selinsgrove.
