Clinton COVID case numbers jump

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Friday reported 5,130 new COVID-19 cases, the second day in a row the number exceeded 5,000, representing the highest one-day totals since Sept. 15.

Statewide hospitalizations totaled 2,576, up five from Thursday. Those in intensive care totaled 572, down 14 from Thursday.

In Clinton County 60 new cases were reported on Friday, bringing the total to 5,147. The 60 cases in one day is the highest since spring. Centre County saw an increase of 45 new cases, to a total of 20,874, while Lycoming County increased by 93 to 16,901.

The state Friday reported 72 new deaths. The death count in Clinton County remained at 81.
