GREENE TOWNSHIP, PA – As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, first responders were still at the scene of a horrific, multi-vehicle crash which occurred Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 80, at mile marker 182, two miles west of the Loganton Exit.

Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna told therecord-online that there were fatalities in the chain-reaction accident but said he could not give a count as of 9 p.m. Hanna said rescue personnel from Clinton, Union, Lycoming and Centre counties were at the scene and were in the process of removing the crashed cars and rigs from the crash site. He was unable to say how many vehicles were involved; reports elsewhere put the number at 30 or more.

The accident forced the closing of the west-bound lanes of I-80 from the I-180 Exit in Northumberland County to the Lock Haven Exit. Those lanes remain closed. The clean-up is expected to take some time. Additional details were not immediately available.
