Five Lady Wildcats Receive All-State Honors
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Five Lady Wildcat softball players have been honored by their inclusion in a listing of top AAAA players in the state for the 2014 season. Three seniors and two juniors, the most of any school in the state were recognized for their efforts.
Rachael Shady (Sr) was selected as Second Team All-State as a pitcher. Shady pitched 88 innings in 18 games with 12 wins and 2 losses and a 1.67 ERA. Offensively, Shady amassed a .306 batting average, scored 11 runs on 15 hits and 18 RBIs that included 6 doubles, 1 triples and 2 home runs. Shady will be attending Lycoming College and will continue her softball career with the Lady Warriors.
Moriah Lindsey (Sr) was also honored as a Second Team All-State outfielder. Lindsey had a prestigious 1.000 fielding percentage in her 18 games for the Lady ‘Cats in 2014. Offensively, Lindsey had a .441 batting average scoring 22 runs on 26 hits that included 2 doubles and 2 triples for 4 RBIs and one stolen base. Lindsey will attend Lock Haven University where she plans to play volleyball for the Lady Eagles.
Lauren Russell (Sr) earned Honorable Mention All-State recognition as a catcher. Russell started all 18 games behind the plate for Central Mountain in 2014 working with a solid pitching staff and leading a stingy defense. Offensively, Russel scored 14 runs on 25 hits that included 4 doubles, 2 triples and a home run that collected 23 RBIs along the way to a .391 batting average for the season. Russell will be attending Lock Haven University.
Jessica Strouse (Jr) received Honorable Mention All-State honors for her efforts at shortstop. Strouse played in 17 games and scored 8 runs on 24 hits in her trips to the plate. In the process she drove in 15 runs with her 10 doubles and 2 triples earning her a .444 batting average. Strouse also successfully stole two bases on the season. Strouse will return at Central Mountain in 2015 for her senior season.
Bryann Hilty (Jr) made the list as Honorable Mention All-State third baseman for the Lady Wildcats. Hilty also started 18 games for CM in 2014. She scored 11 times in her 52 at bats with 24 hits and a .462 batting average. Hilty had four doubles and a home run that collected 11 RBIs. Hilty will also return for the Lady Wildcats in 2015 as a senior.
All five of Central Mountain All-State honorees were also selected as District 6 PSBCA All-Stars.
