Seniors Romp Seals 12-0

cm-baseballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Senior Night is always a special celebration, Tuesday, Central Mountain used a solid team effort to celebrate the 2015 edition in style producing a 12-0 five-inning effort to salute the seniors out in style.

It was a slow start offensively, but that situation was not to last. Going scoreless in the first inning,the Lady ‘Cats put up a single run in the second inning followed two more in the third. Then the bats exploded in the fourth inning where a total of eight runs were added to scoreboard.

In the fourth inning Central Mountain added three more runs to put the game out of reach at 12-0. Followed by a quick three outs in the top of the fifth to end the contest early with a mercy rule finish.

In all. CM accumulated 12 hits in the effort and committed only a single error in the game. It was a workman like performance for CM in the batter’s box with 9 players putting the ball in play. All singles except one double offered up by Sarah Reeder. Madison Brown, Jessica Strouse and Bree Hilty each contributed 2 hits, all singles, while Josie Dershem, Mariah Major, Caitlyn Brush, Averie Pringle, Kimmie Coder all hit singles in the contest.

On the mound it was Madison Brown getting the start. Brown kept the Lady Seals at bay the for four innings allowing only three hits and a single walk while striking out six. Emily Strouse came in for the save with a solid finish earning two strikeouts in the final inning.

Even though it was a special time to honor the seniors, the coaching staff found the opportunity to use 16 different players in the game. Such an effort bodes well for the future to fill the gaps graduation will produce.

The team also presented their head coach, Dave Peters with with an autographed ball to commemorate his 100th career win against Jersey Shore last week.

Central Mountain will not get to savor the win for long as they host Danville tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
