Ghosts and legends tour of Renovo Friday night

By Christopher Miller

RENOVO, PA – A long running tradition in the Lock Haven area, local historian and paranormal researcher Lou Bernard will be packing up his vest-of-tools to tell the stories of paranormal activity in the Renovo area Friday night.

“This is going to be cool, I’ve been wanting to do a tour like this in Renovo for a long time,” Lou said.

After an invitation by phone call from Renovo Librarian Barb Rauch, Lou was ready to finally put his tour and western Clinton County knowledge to the test.

“The tour meets outside of the Renovo Library and 7 PM on Friday, October 6,” Lou said. “We will walk throughout town and there is no charge for this event.”

The western Clinton County area is far from exempt when it comes to what Lou describes as “hauntings and general weirdness.”

“We have the stories and research collected by Hiram Cranmer, who had tons of stories about UFOs, ghosts, and cryptids…there’s really nothing he hasn’t gotten in to in the past,” Lou explained.

“Then I’ll tell some familiar tales such as the Giwoggle (Clinton County official monster), Kettle Creek Monster, a site where Native American remains were dug up, the vanishing hitchhiker, some other cryptids known to invest the area, and other spirits that wander around the afterlife,” Lou explained.

This stuff comes easy for Lou, but Renovo prices to be a little bit of a challenge.

“It was tough to dig some of this stuff up, unlike the tours I hold in Lock Haven where this pretty much falls into my lap,” he said. “It wasn’t a huge challenge, but did have some extra steps.”

“These stories are authentic and well-researched, recorded in old newspapers and peoples journals or diaries, passed down over time, and I am so glad that I can be the person to share them,” Lou said. “I really hope to see everybody turn out for this on Friday night.”
