Seven Lady Wildcats Earn All-Star Honors (Updated)

cm-softballLOCK HAVEN – Central Mountain softball has received Pennsylvania Heartland Conference, Division 1, All-Star Selections. Three first team selections including Jessica Strouse, infielder; Madison Brown, outfielder and Josie Dershem, pitcher.

Following up with second team All-Star honors were: Kimmie Coder, catcher; Bree Hilty, infielder; Mariah Major, infielder; Sarah Reeder, outfielder.

Strouse and Hilty are senior four-year starters for the Lady Wildcats. Strouse, who saw time defensively at second base and shortstop, has built a .463 batting average this season with 31 hits and 21 RBI and had one homer this year. Hilty, plays defense at third base, earned a .452 average with 28 hits and 28 RBI and had two homers this season. Veteran senior, Mariah Major who stood tall at first base this season on defense, had a .370 average with 20 hist and 24 RBI and went yard three times in 2015.

Junior, Sarah Reeder defended in the outfield had a .314 average with 16 hits and 17 RBI and clear the fence for three homers this season. Kimmie Coder, also a junior, anchored the defense from behind the plat and contributed a .312 average, 15 hits and 18 RBI. Junior, Madison Brown helped in the outfield as well as offered some clutch pitching from the circle throughout the season accumulated a .372 average, 16 hits and 14 RBI this season.As a pitcher, Brown had a 5-1 record with a 1.75 ERA for 2015.

Freshmen phenom, Josie Dershem stood tall at second base and shortstop when she was not working in the circle in 2015. Dershem put up some impressive stats for a first-year varsity player with a .476 average, 30 hits 11 RBI and 2 homers in the regular season. From the circle, Dershem was 5-0 with a 1.48 ERA.

Additionally, the same seven Lady Wildcats have also earned District 6 All-Star status. Infielders: Josie Dershem, Jess Strouse, Bree Hilty and Mariah Major Outfield: Madison Brown. Catcher: Kimmie Coder. Designated Player: Sarah Reeder.

In addition, this will be the same group that Co-hosts the District 6 vs. District 4 Senior All-Star game, which will be held at Penn State – Beard Field on Monday, June 15. (Rain date June 16). Central Mountain will be represented by three seniors in the contest: Jessica Strouse, Bree Hilty, and Mariah Major.
