Strouse Joins Century Club in 12-4 Win over Altoona

cm-softballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – In a game that marked outstanding efforts from both first-year freshmen and veteran seniors, the Lady Wildcats, after a slow start gathered steam and momentum to best Altoona 12-4.

The Lady Mountain Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with CM answering back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Wildcats added a single run in the bottom of the second then pounded out six more in the third in response to a pair of runs scored by Altoona in the top of the inning.

The remainder of the game was rather quiet with Central Mountain adding a single run in the bottom of the sixth inning to close out the scoring.

At the plate is was seniors Jessica Strouse and Bree Hilty who led the way both going 3-for-4 on the day with Strouse recording her 100th high school career hit at her first at bat, sliding into second for a hard-earned double to score the Lady ‘Cats first run of the game.

Mariah Major, Josie Dershem and Loren Mohasco each recorded two hits on the night with Karli Coleman and Caitlyn Brush each with one hit on the day.

On the mound, it was freshman Caitlin Brush answering the call to start the game giving up three hits spanning four innings. Brush walked three batters while striking out two which garnered her the win.

Jessica Strouse came on in relief in the fifth inning allowing one run in two innings, giving up two bases on balls, striking out one batter. Bree Hilty closed out the contest in the seventh inning.

The Lady Wildcats are now 11-4 on the season and will next host Shikellamy on Tuesday, May 5 with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
