Words of Grace – Nov. 26, 2014

WordsOfGraceJesus said to the disciples that in the last days the gospel would be preached throughout the whole world for a witness unto all the nations. “And then,” he emphasized, “shall the end come” (Matthew 24:14).

After the resurrection, and just before the ascension, Jesus gave the order to the disciples to go and “teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19). He also ordered them: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

The disciples took these marching orders seriously. Starting in the city of Jerusalem, they then went into all Judaea, and into Samaria, and finally “unto the uttermost parts of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

David Jeremiah writes that what Jesus was saying to the disciples was: “While I was on this earth, I was localized. I could only touch individual men and women in my travels and speak to a few local audiences. But believe me, after I am gone and the Holy Spirit comes to fill and empower my sons and daughters, then my ministry will be as far spread as Christians are.”

In these last days there are those who are using any means possible to get out the gospel to the whole world before the end comes. May the sound of the gospel go “into all the earth and the word unto the ends of the world” (Romans 10:18).
