Clinton has Significant Job Growth

career-linkRENOVO – Clinton County has seen significant employment growth in the past year, Bruce Jones of Pennsylvania Career Link in Clinton-Lycoming counties said this week.

Jones, administrator of the Clinton – Lycoming counties’ Pennsylvania Career Link, told the Renovo Community Trade Association Monday that that the county has gained 700 jobs since July 2013. In Clinton County in July 2014 was at 6.6 percent; 18,900 people were employed. In July 2013 unemployment was at 8.9 percent with 18,200 people employed.

“That’s a significant gain,” Jones said. He added that most of the 700 new jobs were in manufacturing. Very few were in the natural gas business.

In August of this year there were 31 new hires in the county. Two were in the natural gas business. So far in September there
Have been 25 new hires.

Career Fair held a job fair at WCCRA on September 18, the first in Renovo. Jones said the turnout was good for a first time event. Seventy people attended. There were 17 vendors represented.

Career Link will hold a job fair at the STEP Community Center in Lock Haven with 27 vendors.

The Lock Haven fair is sponsored by the Clinton County Commissioners and the Clinton County Economic Partnership.
