The Yellow Brick Road

Rumor has it there’s a host of people on Facebook who are proposing that Renovo Borough officials allow the bricks in the street on Sixth Avenue to remain uncovered, and add bricks in the spot that needs fixed. Don’t have a clue if it’s true, but it seems like a good idea to me. Don’t know if anyone else is so afflicted but every time I go down Erie Avenue and past Sixth Street I notice the brick street from days gone by. Immediately I think of the Yellow Brick Road, the Wizard of Oz and East Gay Street in West Chester. The Yellow Brick Road and Wizard of Oz are obvious. The reference to West Chester is that in the Historic section of Gay Street the old brick street was bared and it was really charming.

Tom T is running for the 5th

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but you’ve probably heard rumors that the latest talk around town is “It’s Tom T for you and me.” Tom T is Thomas Tarantella of Renovo who is seeking the Democratic nomination for the 5th Congressional District. You can find information about Tom on his web site, www.ThomasTarantella.com . He served 22 years in the US Army. He was awarded numerous medals and awards. He was a member of the Rapid Deployment Force and was a paratrooper. He and his wife Ann have been married 31 years. He and Ann raised three children and have five grandchildren.

Ann recently was elected to a seat on Renovo Borough Council. There’s no doubt Tom has the energy, he and Ann are active in community activities. He was raised and educated in Renovo.

 Street heat

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but the word is the temperature in North Bend is a few degrees warmer than the rest of Western Clinton County. The heat, according to the talk on the streets is coming from Chapman Fire Hall Tuesdays and Thursdays from Peggy Tripp’s Zumba classes. Zumba has to be the most popular exercise in ages, and far more fun than gym classes I remember. And yes, there were school buses in those days and I didn’t have to walk miles to get to school. That was my friend Abe.

The rave reviews continue

Rumor has it, and clues are that it’s true, that the excitement continues at First Methodist Church in Renovo on Sunday night. Several people have told me that the attendance at Sunday eve services is encouraging because many young people are going and participating by providing music.

Giwoggle is what?

Rumor has it that Giwoggle is Clinton County’s official monster. I don’t know a whole lot about this fella, and I’m just guessing that the monster is a he and not a she. As I said, I don’t know much about Giwoggle. I’m not even sure I have the correct spelling. I’ve heard that Rich Wykoff and maybe Lou Bernard know about Giwoggle and can vouch for his existence. What i’ve heard is that the monster makes its home on Keating Mountain and that he or it was conjured up by the witches that also apparently reside on the mountain. I haven’t heard of people disappearing but I overheard someone say Giwoggle eats cows. Which might explain why you don’t see a lot of cows from Renovo to Keating area.
