For the Record – Nov. 7, 2013

by Barb Mastriania

Honor our Veterans

Bucktail Middle/Senior High School will host the annual Veterans Day Assembly Program on Monday November 11, 2013 in the high school gymnasium.

The momentum continues

Rumor has it, and the birdie that whispered it in my ear swears it’s true, that the PRR group working to preserve and restore Renovo is continuing the work it started before the Flaming Foliage Festival. The news we’re hearing is that many of the people who cleaned and prepared Renovo to look good for the Flaming Foliage Festival are intent on keeping up the momentum. Borough councilwomen Colleen Testa and Kari Kepler have both said they will continue their pre-festival interest in the community and Testa held a meeting of interested people Wednesday night.

The PRR group is continuing it’s cleanup commitment. The group is to meet next Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Yesterdays 6:30. Members of the PRR group are encouraging everyone with interest in Renovo and surrounding areas to attend the meeting and bring along ideas you may have.

Remember, they say, that the future of Renovo depends on people working together. One person or one group alone cannot do it all.

 Rumor has it

Rumor has it there’s a new wind blowing in Renovo politics. Not a clue if it’s true, but the rumor is that Pattie Rauch and Ann Simon were the top vote getters in the race for Renovo Borough Council seats according to unofficial results in Tuesday’s election. Rauch and Simon have both been attending council meetings in recent years and both are aware of current needs and activity in Renovo.

 Basket Bingo at Chapman

Rumor has it that county Commissioner Jeff Snyder will be updating his resume to include “Bingo Caller.” Jeff proved again this past Sunday that his talent for cal ling Bingo has not diminished any and his popularity among Western Clinton County bingo players remains high. The commissioner caked bingo for the Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park Basket Bingo Sunday was a rousing success. The bingo raised $2,500 for the Heritage Park group. The bingo success was due largely to Joann Walker (with help from hubby Lee) who worked tirelessly for nearly a year to make sure all was done that needed done. The bingo is the group’s main fund raising event of the year. The money goes to finance Heritage Park projects and office upkeep, etc.

It’s time for a parade

The 2013 Flaming Foliage Festival Committee will be holding the annual Christmas Parade on December 1st at 2:00 PM.

The committee is inviting organizations and individuals to participate. Units or floats are in need. For the past 10 years the committee has supplied all the floats and units for the parade and they looking for organizations to participate. A cash prize will be awarded. The theme is Christmas.Call 923-1923 or 923-1226 to participate.

Rumor has it

Rumor has it, and out clue givers tell us it says so on FaceBook, so… anyway the rumor is that some Renovo Fire Department members, in particular the EMS captain and Mrs. Kari Kepler want to hold a Christmas Float Challenge, one rule it must be a Christmas Theme to encourage people to enter floats in the Dec. 1 Christmas Parade. Sounds like a good idea to me. Oh, the rumor is there will be a prize for the winner… oh yeah, Santa will have a prize. Any questions stop by the fire hall and ask we are there almost all the time.
