Fallon Remains a Work in Progress

LOCK HAVEN – “We’re still plowing ahead,” said Carey Chisolm, one of the new owners of the city’s Water Street landmark, the Fallon Hotel.

Chisolm was recently spotted on a cherry-picker, installing plywood over some upper floor windows at the now empty hotel. He said the windows are being boarded up as some window panes had fallen out and birds were flying in. Chisolm said all the upper floor windows will eventually be covered and painted while the new owners put their emphasis on readying the Fallon’s first floor for use.

He said interior renovations continue, the work set back by vandalism earlier this year; he could not offer a timeline as to a possible reopening date. Outside financing is being pursued, he said, to assist in the upgrade.

Chisolm is president of C & Q Investment Properties, the firm which purchased the Fallon for a reported $70,000 earlier this year from the previous owners, Terry and Dolores Mantle of Jersey Shore. The building had been shut down two winters ago when its heating plant gave out and its final tenants moved out. It was posted for sale in January of 2018.

According to county records, the Mantles had purchased the Fallon in 1997 from the late Charles and Hazel Stevenson for $104,000. The asking price as of January of 2018 was $275,000.
