First Quality Tissue Project in High Gear
CASTANEA TOWNSHIP – With spring comes increased activity in the construction phase on the third tissue machine at First Quality Tissue in Castanea Township. The massive expansion is expected to be completed later this year and ready for an early 2020 start-up, according to recent word from Mike Flanagan, Clinton County Economic Partnership CEO. Flanagan said contracted workers on site will reach the 900 level this spring. The project has seen placement of temporary parking lots and school buses to get the workers to the massive construction site.
The expansion carries a $300 million price tag. First Quality has some 1,700 employees at its various Clinton County facilities. The new project is expected to add another 184 jobs. The announcement of the expansion was first made in December of 2014.
