Clare E. Frank – Obituary

ObitArtClare E. Frank, 92, of 107 Barton St., Lock Haven, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home.

Born in Lock Haven on October 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Utica E. Fisher Eberhart.

She was known to many as Mabel or Honey.

Clare was a 1940 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

On April 24, 1943 at the Lutheran Church in Lock Haven, she married Harry W. Frank who preceded her in death on July 27, 2004.

Clare was employed at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the N.A.C.A., on the Langley Air Force Base in Virginia from April 1943 until the end of World War II. The N.A.C.A. was involved in the research, development, and oversight of the new and advanced aircraft of World War II. On Clare’s 37th birthday, the N.A.C.A. became the present day NASA.

After returning to the area, Clare was employed by Sylvania and then in Penn Dot’s Clinton County Office. She then worked in the Clinton County Commissioner’s Office before being employed in the service parts department of Piper Aircraft.

Clare enjoyed Turner Classic movies and Big Band music.

Surviving is a son, Thomas D. Frank of Lock Haven; two granddaughters: Michelle (Eric) Grove and Christine (Christopher) Eckert; two great grandchildren: Emily Maggs and Avery Eckert; and a beloved dog, Fritz.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Janet Hess Frank.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
