Connie L. Sohmer, 73, of 214 W. Church St., Apt. 4, Lock Haven, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Susque View Home.

She was born on October 31, 1940 in Lock Haven, the daughter of the late William W. and Olive E. Spotts Barnhart.

Connie was a 1958 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

On March 4, 1963 in Lock Haven, she married Joseph C. Sohmer who survives.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lock Haven.

Connie was very active in all her children’s activities including the Girls Scouts, where she served as a Troop Leader and Camp Director and was involved in several fundraisers and bake sales. Connie also served on the Judges Committee and as a chaperone for the Miss Clinton County Pageant.

She enjoyed attending auctions, collecting antiques, cooking, all things home décor and reading. Connie was a fan of warmer weather and was often found watching movies in her home on cold winter days.  Following her husband’s retirement, they took several vacations, including to Rome, Ireland and the Caribbean Islands.  Most of all, Connie adored her time spent with family, especially her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband, Connie is survived by two daughters, Debra K. (John, Jr.) Boyer of Lock Haven and Julia Sohmer (Bruce E.) Bailey of Lancaster; a son, Joseph (Patricia) Sohmer of Altoona; a sister, Janice A. (William) Fye of Lock Haven; six grandchildren, Caroline E. and Wyatt A. Bailey of Lancaster, Elizabeth and Sara Sohmer, both of Altoona, Jennifer (Gary) Worden and Matthew (Jill) Boyer, both of Lock Haven; four great grandchildren, Aaron, Blake, Abbey and Ella, all of Lock Haven; a niece, Laura J. Eisenhower and a nephew, Timothy D. Fye, both of Lock Haven.  She is also survived by her beloved dog and companion, Betty Boop.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Marie Sohmer; and two grandchildren, Rachel Faith Bailey and Mason Sohmer Bailey.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery, Avis.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lock Haven Catholic School Endowment Fund, 311 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Pa  17745.
