BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — Central Mountain High School senior field star Kyler Klein will be doing his javelin tossing at Bloomsburg University next year. Klein and his family today met with school officials for a ceremonial signing (back row, left to right, track coach Bob Dwyer and athletic director Steve Turchetta; seated, left, Kyler’s mother Bobbi Squier and, right, his father Mike Klein). Klein is the defending District 6 champion and has to wait a day to defend his title as the event at Altoona’s Mansion Park was postponed from today to tomorrow. Kline has been throwing since ninth grade and has had a steady progression upward in his heaves: 12th at districts as a freshman, fourth as a sophomore and the title a year ago with a throw of better than 179 feet. His personal best, 191.8, came recently at an event at Lock Haven University. He said his goal is to return to the PIAA event at Shippensburg and throw in the 195 to 200 foot range and finish in the top eight. Central Mountain has never had an all-state finisher in boys track. Klein will enter the business school at Bloomsburg in the fall and said he may also plans to give tossing the hammer a try. Record photo – John Lipez
