Wildcats Open Post Season with Danville Tonight in PHAC Playoff

Central Mountain to Host Bellefonte in D6 Playoffs Feb. 19

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain will take their first step to acquire some post season hardware tonight as they face Danville (17-4) in the first round of the PHAC Championship playoffs at Shikellamy High School at 6 p.m.

The Wildcats (11-9 overall) finished first in the PHAC Division I with an 8-2 conference division record for the No. 3 seed while Danville (14-1 overall) finished first in PHAC Division II with a 9-1 division mark to be the No. 1 seed.. Mount Carmel was 10-2 in PHAC Division III and is the No. 2 seed. The wildcard entry and No. 4 seed is Loyalsock (17-5 overall) who notched a 8-2 division record to fill out the four team bracket. Danville’s lone loss came at the hands of Loyalsock, 49-47 on their last regular season game on Monday. Loyalsock also defeated the Wildcats on Feb. 9, 87-68. CM did not meet Danville or Mount Carmel during the regular season.

Under PHAC rules, the wildcard entry can not face a team from the same division in the first round which bumped Central Mountain in the bracket to face Danville. Loyalsock and Mountain Carmel will play tonight following the Wildcats vs Ironman clash.

The winners of tonight’s games will return to Shikellamy High School to settle the PHAC championship on Friday, Feb. 14, 2018 with a 6 p.m. tip off.

On Monday, Feb. 19, the Wildcats will get their first opportunity to defend their 2016-17 District 6 5A title as they will host Bellefonte (7-15) at Central Mountain High School for a first round contest at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will then face No. 1 seed, Hollidaysburg (14-6) on the campus of Penn State Altoona at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

Spectators will be permitted into the Mondays D6 playoff at 6 p.m. The admission fee for adults and students are $6. CM athletic director, George Bidwell will be offering pre-sale tickets on Thursday, February 15 and Friday, February 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Central Mountain High School Athletics Office.
