CM Edged by Mifflinburg, 56-50
MIFFLINBURG – Central Mountain had a key road trip Saturday night to face the ‘other’ Wildcats in a PHAC contest, coming up short to Mifflinburg, 56-50.
Mifflinburg held a narrow 17-14 lead after one quarter but stepped up their offense and pulled ahead of Central Mountain in the second period 21-10 to hold a 38-24 halftime lead.
That deficit would prove just a bit too much for CM to overcome, though they did rally in the second half. Central Mountain outpaced Mifflinburg 16-9 in the third quarter and 10-7 in the final 8 minutes but still trailed 56-50 at the final buzzer.
The loss takes Central Mountain 11-8 overall and 8-3 in the PHAC.
Collin Jones led the Wildcats with 24 points while Jake Skrtich put up 11 with Matt Storeman adding 9 and Isaiah McCann dropping in 6 points for the cause.
Central Mountain finished the game with 37 rebounds (19 offensive / 18 defensive) and eight steals.
Central Mountain will be on the road again Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at Williamsport.
