Lady ‘Cats Battle, Come up Short with Mid-West, 52-45

MIDDLEBURG – Central Mountain (0-17, 0-8 PHAC) has had a tough run this season and a road trip to Mid-West Friday night was no different, but the margin was very close with the Lady Mustangs outlasting CM, 52-45.

The Lady ‘Cats were slow to get their offense in gear trailing Midd-West 12-4 after one quarter of play, then stepped up their game to close the margin, trailing the hosts 18-13 at the half.

Both teams came out on fire in the third quarter with CM edging the Lady Mustangs 17-15 to close the gap 33-30 in favor of Mid-West with one quarter of play remaining.

The final period was more of the same with Midd-West outpacing Central Mountain 19-15 for the final 52-45 victory.

Taylor Fletcher led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points on the night and Marissa Moyer was in double digits for 11 more. Katie Burrows with 5 points and Hayley Bauer with 5. Morgan Wetzel, Madison Courter and Alyssa Fisher scored 3 points each while Talyn Fredericks contributed 2 for CM.

The Lady Wildcats will next host Shikellamy on Monday, Feb. 5, 2017.
