Central Mountain Stumbles with Hollidaysburg, 57-49

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain (7-3, 5-1) came up short in a key District 6 5A matchup with Hollidaysburg, falling to the golden Tigers 57-49. The Wildcats held their own against the Golden Tigers for three quarters, then their offense faltered in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats kept pace with Hollidaysburg in the first half fueled by Isaiah McCann’s 10 point effort in the first quarter with the knotted at 15-all after the first 8 minutes. Hollidaysburg manager to pull ahead of the ‘Cats slightly in the second quarter out scoring the hosts 15-11 for a 30-26 advantage at the break.

Central Mountain returned the favor in the third quarter, outpacing the guests, 17-14 to trail the Golden Tigers 44-33 with one period remaining. In the fourth quarter, Hollidaysburg pulled away by outscoring CM 13-6 to seal the win.

McCann finished the game with 15 points while Collin Jones added 13 and Trevor Hanna knocked down 12. Tyler Adair scored 5 points and Matt Storeman contributed 4 points for Central Mountain.

Defensively, Central Mountain finished the game with 33 rebounds (15 offensive / 18 defensive), two blocks and 12 steals.

The Wildcats will next see action on the road at Tyrone on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018.
