Renovo’s Good Neighbor Center Receives $15,500 Dominion Grant

RENOVO – Dominion Energy has awarded the Good Neighbor Center of the Renovo Council of Churches a $15,500 grant to be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and meat, as well as to complete plumbing, heating and electrical work required following the Center’s recent purchase of the parish house from Trinity Episcopal Church.

The Good Neighbor Center is a community-supported program that provides food to about 20 percent of the citizens of Renovo, with a significantly higher percentage of residents, including a disproportionate number of senior citizens, during the winter season.

“Thanks to our many volunteers from this community and the generous support of the Dominion Foundation,” said Pastor Richard Colvin, “we are able to help many of our neighbors.”

“While many of us look forward to the new year, we recognize that many people in our communities struggle to afford the basics needed for a secure, healthy and productive life,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “These grants will help fill critical needs for nutritious food, safe shelter and the medical care essential for a better future.”

This is the fourth consecutive year of Dominion Energy’s support for the Good Neighbor Center.

The Good Neighbor Center, which is managed by the Renovo Council of Churches, provides a variety of services to those in need, and works closely with other agencies and organizations in the community.
