Full Slate of PIAA Football this Weekend

LOCK HAVEN – Area teams in Districts 4 and 6 continue their post season march for a PIAA title this weekend with some very key matchups in store that included a head-to-head matchup of two Central Mountain regular season opponents.

District 6

State College will be on the road to Danville tonight to face Delaware Valley for a 7 p.m. kickoff in their 6A state playoff. The Little Lions rolled over the Erie Royals 48-12 last week while the Warriors took down Hazleton 31-3.

Hollidaysburg get back to action tonight when they face Grove City in PIAA 5A playoff at Penn Manor also for a 7 p.m. kick. The Golden Tigers throttle DuBois back on Oct. 27 34-7 in their last regular season game while Grove City pounded Meadville 35-14.

In District 6 AAA action will see First Hills on the road to Huntingdon for a 7:07 p.m. kickoff tonight. The Rangers edged Central 17-14 to advance to the D6 final with the Bearcats thumping Juniata, 53-7.

No. 5 seed, Juniata Valley will take on No. 1 seed, Bishop Guifoyle at Hollidaysburg tonight in the D6 A semi-final tonight at 7 p.m. Last week the Hornets took down Northern Cambria, 19-14 and the Marauders defeated Claysburg-Kimmel 42-9.

District 6 teams will have three key games tomorrow as well with the first of importance to District 4 as well when two familiar teams meet in the first round PIAA 4A playoff game.

District 4 AAAA champ, Selinsgrove will face District 6 AAAA champ, Bellefonte at mansion Park in Altoona tomorrow for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Seals advanced to this round with a 34-0 shutout win over Shikellamy last week while the Red Raiders put up a 34-14 win over Johnstown. Of note, Selinsgrove won 40-3 over Central Mountain back on Oct. 13 and Bellefonte was a 34-31 3OT winner over the Wildcats on Sept. 15.

For the D6 AA championship, Bishop McCort will travel to Ligonier Valley for a 7:07 p.m. contest, Saturday. The Crushers beat Westmont-Hilltop 35-14 last week to advance while Rams be Cambria Heights, 39-14.

In the other side of the bracket for D6 A action will see No. 6 seed Ferndale Area traveling to No. 2 seed, Homer Center for a 7 p.m. kick tomorrow. The Yellow Jackets edged Portage 14-13 last week while the Wildcats drubbed Purchase Line, 41-0 to advance to the semi-final round.

District 4

In a clash of storied titans, Mount Carmel will travel to Southern Columbia for the D4 AA championship game for a 7 p.m. kickoff tonight. The Red Tornadoes drubbed Line Mountain 42-6 last week while the Tigers put up a 59-14 win over Central Columbia to advance to the district finals.

Loyalsock the D4 A champion will will face Scranton Prep, the D2 champ tonight at 7 p.m. at Williamsport. Last week the Lancers toppled Lewisburg, 35-24 with the Cavaliers posting a 54-7 win over Lake Lehman.

In PIAA A action tomorrow, D4 champ, Wyalusing Area will face Steelton-Highspire at Williamsport for a 1 p.m. kickoff. Last week the Rams rolled over Montgomery, 28-6 and the Steamrollers picked up a 68-42 win over Fairfield Area.

As noted earlier in AAAA action, D4 champ Selingrove will be facing D6 champ, Bellefonte at Mansion Park, 1 p.m. Saturday.
