KCSD Administration Budget First Draft Thursday

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The next step in preparation of next year’s Keystone Central School District budget will take place Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Central Mountain High School cafeteria. District administration will present for school board consideration a preliminary budget.

The meeting is a follow-up to a community task force meeting earlier this month where task force members offered a multitude of options with the goal of cutting $10 million from the 2018-19 budget.
District superintendent Kelly Hastings said Thursday’s session will not be a board voting meeting but similar to a committee session. She said board members will be able to ask questions and take comments from the audience if they so choose.

Current board members will be involved in the meeting as newly-elected members Eric Probert and Jennifer Bottorf can not officially begin their duties until the annual December organizational meeting.
The Thursday session is one in a series of periodic budget sessions scheduled through next spring as the district grapples with burgeoning pension costs, declining enrollment and state funding which has not grown to the level that district expenses have.
