Probe Continues into Renovo Bank Robbery

RENOVO – State police are continuing their investigation into a Monday afternoon robbery of the Santander Bank on Erie Avenue in Renovo.

Tuesday morning police issued their first formal release on the heist, the second in two years at the same bank. Police put the time of the robbery at 2:14 p.m. and the take at $3,618. Their release provided these updated descriptions of the two robbers:

Actor #1: white/male standing approximately 5’6’’, husky build, wearing dark two tone hooded sweat shirt, ball cap with a white bandana covering the face with large mirror type sunglasses. He was wearing gray sweat pants with bright red gloves.

Actor #2: stood approximately 6’1”, thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt that had a lime green color accent on the hood.

Investigating officer Stephen Dunkle’s release detailed the robbery after the two intruders entered the bank at 364 Erie Avenue:

“Actor #1 approached teller #1 with a firearm and demanded money. Teller #1 and Teller #2 placed money on the countertop in front of Actor #1. Actor #2 stood at the entrance while this incident took place as a look out. Actor #1` collected the money and fled with Actor #2 away from the scene on foot towards Huron Avenue. Amount of money taken was approximately $3,618 in small denominations. No one was injured during this incident. Anyone with additional information is to contact PSP/LAMAR.”

When word of the robbery was spread, the Keystone Central School District briefly detained students at the Bucktail campus in Farwell as a “shelter in place” until authorities gave the ok to dismiss them.

The same bank had been robbed on Oct. 29, 2015 and the robber later apprehended and sentenced to prison.
