Wildcats fall 3-2 to Benton

cm-soccerBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain boys’ soccer team fought valiantly for a senior night win against visiting Benton and came up short falling to the Tigers 3-2.

Benton built a 2-0 lead in the first half and scored their third goal in just under 10 minutes of the second period to hold a solid 3-0 advantage.

The Wildcats would no go quietly and began to battle back.

Matt Storman converted a penalty kick into CM’s first score with 25:19 remaining in the game. Then Logan Soo found the back of the net off a Trey Gentzel assist with 6:05 on the clock. The ‘Cats persisted in the closing minutes but could not knot the score before the clock expired.

Benton held a slight edge in shots on goal at 9-8 while the Wildcats had a slight advantage in corner kicks at 6-4.

CM goal keeper, Nick Andrus had 4 saves on the night for the Wildcats.

The loss takes the Wildcats to 4-9-2 on the season.

Central Mountain honored their seniors and parents for their contributions to the Wildcat soccer program. Senior members of the squad include: Nick Andrus, Jeremy Rosamilia, Riley Condo, Joe Moore, Logan Soo, Matt Storeman, Alex Williams, R.J. Shaffer, Shea Cole and managers – Micah Brinker and Tessa Gallagher.

Central Mountain has one game remaining as they travel to Jersey Shore tomorrow, Oct. 19, 2017. The varsity game will begin at 4 p.m. with the JV game to follow.
