Sandusky Turned Down on Latest Appeal

BELLLEFONTE – Visiting Jefferson County Judge John Foradora Wednesday dismissed a series of appeals from Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football coach imprisoned on multiple child molestation convictions.

Sandusky’s counsel had filed a series of appeals, all of which were rejected by the court. The ruling means Sandusky’s conviction for the sexual abuse of 10 youth between 1994 and 2008 will remain in effect. Sandusky is serving a 30 to 60 year state prison sentence for his crimes.

Sandusky, now 73, had been arrested as an outgrowth from an incident at Central Mountain High School which prompted a student and his mother to report the offense to school officials. A mammoth state probe followed and Sandusky was arrested and convicted.

Judge Foradora was selected earlier this year to hear the Sandusky appeal after Judge John Cleland of McKean County had recused himself. Sandusky is expected to file an appeal on the decision with the state Superior Court.
