LHU Falls on the Road to Millersville,34-21

lhu-footballMILLERSVILLE – The Lock Haven University football team (1-6, 1-3 PSAC East) tried to rally late but fell short on the road Saturday to Millersville University (3-4, 2-2 PSAC East), 34-21.

Millersville rushed out to a 24-0 lead before LHU would get on the scoreboard after John Ford (Etters, Pa./Shippensburg Unv.) broke a 42-yard run for a touchdown and cut into the lead with 5:11 left in the third quarter. The Bald Eagles would go for two and convert after Kyle Knight (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon) rushed it in.

The Marauders responded and scored 10 more points early in the fourth quarter to push their lead to 34-8.

Cameron Tobias (Centre Hall, Pa./Penns Valley) would punch home a five yard touchdown run to cap an impressive 14 play drive that lasted 5:23 and covered 63 yards. On the drive The Haven converted on three third downs and two fourth downs.

The LHU defense then stepped up and forced a quick three and out to give the ball back to the offense with 2:01 left and trailing 34-14.

The offense stayed hot as they drove down the field for on eight plays covering 78 yards that resulted in Ford plowing his way for a touchdown from three yards out to make it a 34-21 game.

Shyheim Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Neil Satterwhite (Philadelphia/West Catholic) led the defense as they recorded 12 and 10 tackles respectively.

Obadiah Asare (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby), Elijah McBride (Philadelphia/Milford Academy) and Brandon Clements(Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) all got to the quarterback and recorded one sack apiece.

On the offensive side Tobias led the charge as he went 13-19 and threw for over 100 yards. Jalen Jackson(Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) hauled in five passes for 78 yards including a 28 yard catch.

Next Saturday (Oct. 21), the Bald Eagles will return home to host Kutztown University (5-2) at 1 p.m. The Bears downed East Stroudsburg Saturday by a 41-9 score.
