Lois Gianoplos – Obituary
RENOVO – Lois Gianoplos died in her home on Sunday, September 24, 2017. She was the daughter of the late William and Florence Aungst. She was predeceased by her two late husbands, Warren G. Lundfelt in 1961 and Evangelo G. Gianoplos in 2012, her twin children Ethel “Cissy” Riggle and Frank W. Lundfelt, her brothers John Aungst, Ken Aungst, Charles Aungst, Bill Aungst, and Pete Aungst, and sisters Helene Mcray, Loraine Secules, and Ethel Goodman.
Lois was a strong, wonderful, and hard working woman. She worked for many years at the Renovo Hospital, Widmanns Drug Store, and Malizia’s Store, and then spent an enjoyable 25 years in the kitchen of Lock Haven University- where she made lifelong friends.
She was always active and working on some type of project, like changing out her apartment décor or nurturing her flower boxes. She prided herself on having one of the nicest porches in the whole town. She had weekly outings with her very best friend, Irma Clemente. Lois was a friend to many, and valued her wonderful relationships with her neighbors- Donnie, Francie, Tasha and Jace. Lois looked forward each week to Sundays- when her daughter, Tina, would visit from Williamsport to run her errands, prepare her for the week ahead, and have a nice lunch with her.
She also enjoyed her visits and long talks with her son, Craig, and the delicious food that he and his wife Roxanne, would send up. Lois looked forward to family get-togethers. She would host a smorgasbord for family each Flaming Foliage, showcasing her famous strombolis. In her later years, Lois enjoyed being cooked for. She looked forward to, each year, attending a big, delicious dinner hosted by the Malizia’s for the holidays. It wasn’t just the food that she liked, though. Lois loved to talk, and even listen sometimes. She would often say that one of her favorite things to do was to hear a good story. She spent countless hours sitting, with a big glass of iced tea in her hand, listening to her granddaughters talk.
She spent many summer weeks spending special time with her granddaughter, Lauren, and listening to all kinds of special secrets and the two would laugh until they were both in tears. Recently, Lois was able to reconnect with her great grandson, Cameron. She told her daughter and granddaughter many times how much that meant to her, and she’d want him to know that. She was always laughing about the things that her two great granddaughters, Harlow and Evangelina, would say.
She got a big kick out of Harlow calling her “Nanny Nop” and her spunky personality. Lois was also pretty feisty, one always knew what she was thinking or feeling. It was that tenacity, though, that pushed her through the last ten years of heartache she endured, and allowed her to do so with grace and dignity. Lois will be missed beyond measure. Her family prays that she was greeted at Heaven’s gate by the treasured family members who passed before her, and that she finally got the peace and hugs she so longer for.
Lois is survived by her two adored children, Tina Leathers of Williamsport and Craig (Roxanne) Lundfelt of Renovo, a sister Ellie Malizia of South Williamsport, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Lauren (Sean) Henry of Montoursville, Jarad Lundfelt and Lindsay Lundfelt of Renovo, Tyler Leathers of Williamsport, Cody Lundfelt, Janene (Scott) Sockman, Jesse (Rhonda) Riggle, and even several great grandchildren, whom she cherished her special visits with.
Services will be at the convenience of the family with interment at North Bend Cemetery.
