William Mincer Seeks Lock Haven City Council Seat

LOCK HAVEN – William H. Mincer has announced he will seek election to the Lock Haven City Council this November, after receiving the Clinton County Democratic Party nomination this summer to fill a ballot vacancy.

“As a resident of the City of Lock Haven since 1991, first as a student at Lock Haven University and now as a homeowner, I want to give back and serve the community I have called my home for the last 26 years,” said Mincer, a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves. “I believe in the importance of community involvement and public service. Public service, in particular, plays a vital role in our society.”

Mincer currently serves as Director of Sport Camps at Penn State University and was previously employed as the High School Athletic Director at Jersey Shore Area School District. He also previously served on the Williamsport Recreation Commission on behalf of the Williamsport YWCA as the Director of Recreation and Aquatics for the YWCA and the City of Williamsport.

He believes his budgetary and administrative experience, combined with his ability to manage large projects and work effectively with diverse groups of people provides the background needed for a city council position.

“As a councilman it would be my duty to represent the people of Lock Haven. Every decision I make would be made with the thought, considering what is in the community’s best interest. I will listen to community members, as I believe getting input from all of those involved is a very important part of the process,” he said.

A Clinton County native, Mincer graduated from Lock Haven High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Lock Haven University and his Masters of Science degree in Sports Administration from California University of Pennsylvania.

Mincer and his wife, Chasity (McCann), have two children, daughter Stacia, a 2016 Central Mountain High School graduate and Sophomore at Penn State University, and son Peyton, a Junior at Central Mountain. They attend the Blanchard Church of Christ and have lived in the city’s Fourth Ward, on South Highland Street, since 1997.
