Jersey Shore Man Dead in Pine Creek Township Incident

PINE CREEK TOWNSHP – State police have released the name of the deceased in their death investigation near Avis.

A police update identified the deceased as Cody J. Englert, 30, of Jersey Shore. Police Wednesday morning were at the incident site, 925 Fourth Street, Pine Creek Township, an area of trailer homes just to the east of Avis and a few blocks north of Central Avenue.

A sparse updated release from state police and the office of Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse read:

“This station is currently on a death investigation in Pine Creek Township, Clinton County. The deceased has been identified as Cody J. Englert. The investigation is still ongoing, more information will be provided as soon as possible.”

Police said the incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday morning. They have released no additional information. The district attorney was at the state police barracks in Lamar Township during the morning. A criminal investigator from state police in Montoursville was going door-to-door questioning neighbors near the incident scene.

A neighbor told therecord-online she heard a loud noise overnight and believed it may have been a door slamming. She said a man and woman and a number of grade school children had moved into the home at 925 Fourth Street earlier this year. She said those children often played with hers.
