Suspect in Jersey Shore Bank Robbery Caught

JERSEY SHORE – Authorities have arrested a former Jersey Shore resident and charged him with last Friday’s armed robbery at the Santander Bank on Allegheny Street.

U.S. Marshalls apprehended Bryan N. Giacomi, 27, hiding under his mother’s mobile home in Trout Run north of Williamsport. He was committed to Lycoming County Prison in default of $750,000 bail.

The apprehension came Tuesday evening, four days after the suspect is accused of displaying a handgun and making off with $840 from the bank in downtown Jersey Shore.

According to an affidavit filed by Tiadaghton Valley Police, Giacomi earlier on Friday had entered the Jersey Shore State Bank on S.Main St. in Jersey Shore and an M & T Bank in the Newberry section of Williamsport; in both instances employees said the man matched the description of the same man who later Friday pulled off the Santander heist. No robberies took place at either of those banks.

During his arraignment Tuesday night Giacomi told District Judge William Solomon he was on state parole for other offenses and said he had been living at his mother’s home.

Tiadaghton Valley police thanked the U.S. Marshall’s fugitive task force, the state police fugitive task force and the Lycoming County sheriff’s department for their assistance in the apprehension.
